At Jurnal Teknik Kimia,  we are committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity and originality. It is crucial to ensure that all submitted work is free from plagiarism to preserve the quality and credibility of our journal. This plagiarism policy provides the guidelines and procedures for preventing and addressing plagiarism in submissions to our journal.

Definition of Plagiarism

Plagiarism refers to using someone else’s words, ideas, or findings without appropriate attribution, presenting them as one’s own original work. It can take different forms, including but not limited to:

  • Direct Plagiarism: Copying text exactly from another source without quotation marks or proper citation.

  • Self-Plagiarism: Reusing substantial parts of one’s own previously published work without acknowledgment.

  • Mosaic Plagiarism: Combining material from various sources without proper citations.

  • Accidental Plagiarism: Failing to cite sources or misquoting them unintentionally.

Policy Guidelines

  • Originality Requirement: All manuscripts submitted to Jurnal Teknik Kimia  must be original and should not have been previously published or be under consideration for publication elsewhere.

  • Proper Citation: Authors must ensure that all sources of information and ideas are appropriately cited in their manuscripts, including direct quotes, paraphrasing, and any data or concepts not originally theirs.

  • Plagiarism Detection: All manuscripts will undergo plagiarism screening using detection software. Submissions with a similarity score above a certain threshold will be thoroughly reviewed and may be returned to the authors for revisions or outright rejected.

  • Consequences of Similarity: If plagiarism is detected, the following actions will be taken:

    • Minor Similarity: For minor similarity (e.g., a few sentences), authors will be asked to revise the manuscript and properly cite the sources.

    • Major Similarity: For extensive or intentional similarity, the manuscript will be rejected.

  • Adherence to Ethical Standards: Authors are expected to follow ethical standards in academic research and publication.

  • Proper Acknowledgment: Authors must ensure proper acknowledgment of all sources of information and ideas.

  • Co-Authors: All co-authors must have made significant contributions to the research and must approve the final manuscript version.
